Cooking Instructions
Cooking Instructions:
Half Country Ham
BAKING - Soak overnight in cold water, wrap ham completely in heavy aluminum foil, in a manner to retain juices, and pour approximately 1½ cups of water inside the aluminum wrap. Bake at 350 degrees F for approximately 20 minutes per pound. Cook to 160 degrees F internal temperature and serve.
PAN BROIL OR FRY: Slice the ham in 1/4" to 3/8" slices, trim the outside edges, and score the fat. Place the slices in a covered frying pan (set on medium heat of at least 350 degrees F and cook a minimum of one minute on each side). Brown both sides; but be careful not to overcook as it will make the ham hard. Cook to 160 degrees F and serve.
Country Ham Slices
Bring frying pan or griddle to 350°.
Then cook each side for 1 minute
Smoked Bacon
To Pan Fry: Place bacon slices in a cold skillet. Cook slowly over heat and turn until slightly crisp, draining excess drippings as required. Remove each slice as it browns and drain on paper towels.
To Microwave: Place bacon strips between paper towels. Cook 4 slices on high setting for 3 minutes. Then cook at 30 seconds intervals until desired crispness. Microwave temperatures and personal preferences vary.
To Bake:Place bacon strips on a baking sheet (that has sides to contain drippings) and place in the center rack of a cold oven. Turn oven on to 400° F and check bacon in 15 minutes. Remove as soon as bacon is golden brown, but not excessively crisp. Cooking times can vary depending on how quickly oven reaches temperature. You will notice when cooking Loveless Cafe bacon that it does not shrink as much as typical grocery store bacon. This is due to the old-fashioned dry curing method used with Loveless Cafe Bacon.
PLEASE NOTE: Flavored bacons are best cooked using the oven method.
